October 30, 2011 by fredgooltz

Sam often dreamed of Laura. A girl he met in New Orleans when his riverboat pulled alongside hers. They had adventures in New Orleans. He later went to her home in Warsaw to propose but Laura’s mom didn’t like Sam and chased him away. They remained in contact for years. Later she married Charles Dake, she was a confederate spy. She moved to San Francisco and opened a Ladies School. She was there in 1865-1866.
