Gov Nye’s Thanksgiving Proclamation in VC is marred by Theatre Violence.

November 6, 2011 by fredgooltz

Gov Nye gave his Thanksgiving Proclamation with over-optimistic verbosity before theatre crowds. Each theatre held the show for the Governor. At Moore’s Saloon Theatre, to shady citizens drunk, armed with bowie knives and revolvers stormed down the aisle and commanded the curtain be dropped. Stark refused, the audience of women and children screamed. Stark dropped the curtain and the audience fled, as did the actors, the gunmen put on a show of their own, threatening with the knives and slashing the curtain to ribbons. They were fined $1000 which went to the school fund. Sarah Kirby returned to San Jose, scared of Nevada.
