Four theatres running shows on those two nights. Opera House had drama with Idiot of the Mountains and Jack Sheppard; or, The House Breaker of the Last Century. the Temple of Comedy served light legitimate farce like The Rough Diamond, A Kiss in the Dark, The Pleasant Neighbor. the Virginia Melodeon rocked the Negro Minstrel show and the Great Republic Melodeon in a basement at B and Taylor Streets was a burlesque Variety program that scandalized some chaste ladies. — July 24, 1863 — July 25, 1863
