Dan finished a follow up play, “The Wheelers in Washoe.” Some of the composite characters that he’d used in his editorials were finally given voice. Characters included Spudder, P.V. constantly duped the gullible Mr. Quartstruck until he had enough of mines, miners and Washoe adventure in general. The heroine was Betsy Jane Wheeler – a Yankee Gal of the right stripe. Dennis O’Flaherty personified the Hiberian element added wit and color.
