While living in SF, Sam writes an article speaking out against the massacre of Chinese workers in October 1871, his editors in SF refuse to publish, so he sends it back to the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise

The Enterprise write a squib that got picked up by the NY Times called Camels in Nevada. The town grew to hate them and outlawed them to Arizona.
